Working independently as a real estate agent has been a rewarding journey. I set my own schedule, move at my own pace, and every single day is an adventure. Some days are full of wins, while others test my patience, but one thing is for sure—no two days are ever the same.
Morning Rituals: Discipline Before Reward
I wake up early, wash up, and start my day with prayer. Before anything else, I take a moment to center myself. A cup of coffee follows—not for the caffeine, but for the ritual. I choose to fast in the morning; it keeps me sharp, disciplined. I tell myself I don’t deserve to eat yet—I need to earn it.
Dressed in my usual dark-colored shirt and black trousers (I don’t really feel the cold), I put on my watch, grab my keys and some cash, and step out. The moment I leave the house, the real work begins.
The Art of the Hunt: Coffee, Calls, and Connections
As someone who loves coffee, you’ll find me hopping from one café to another. These aren’t just coffee breaks—they’re my mobile office. Phone in one hand, espresso in the other, I start making calls.
Owners. Agents. Landlords. Potential clients.
I believe in calling, not texting. Voice carries emotion, and emotion builds trust. Some people hesitate to pick up the phone, but I love it. Every call is a new opportunity, a potential deal waiting to happen.
I have a rule: I must find at least two new properties every day. That means constant follow-ups, asking for pictures, details, and addresses. If the owner doesn’t have photos, I insist on visiting the property myself. I need to see what I’m selling, understand its strengths and weaknesses before I present it to a client.
Networking and Preparation: Laying the Groundwork
Aside from working solo, I’m also part of a freelance agent network. We share leads, listings, and potential tenants. It’s a competitive industry, but I believe in collaboration. The more people I help, the more success comes my way.
By midday, I shift to admin work—following up with clients I’ve shown properties to, setting up viewings, and preparing new listings. My afternoons are reserved for action, but my mornings are all about strategy.
A Moment for Family: A Simple Ritual
At 2:30 PM, my mother finishes work at the primary school. Every day, I make it a point to pick her up and take her home. It’s a small thing, but family is everything.
Back home, I allow myself a small reward—a cheesy toast with tea. It’s a simple comfort before heading back into work mode.
The Viewings: Show Time
By 3 PM, it’s go time. I jump into my car, ready for back-to-back viewings. While driving, I switch between two modes—music to energize me or motivational speeches to keep me laser-focused.
I arrive at least five minutes early. Punctuality matters. I use that time to chat with the landlord, switch on the lights, and familiarize myself with the space.
When the client arrives, I don’t just open doors—I sell the property. I give them a guided tour, highlight the best features, and answer all their questions. If I believe the place is a perfect fit, I push for a deposit on the spot.
“This market moves fast,” I tell them. “I’d hate for you to lose out on a place that could be your home.”
Beast Mode: The Gym and Reset
Once the workday winds down, it’s time to hit the gym.
For the past 14 years, the gym has been my sacred space. No distractions. No phones. Just me, the weights, and my determination. I push myself to the limit, leave everything on the floor, then unwind in the sauna before taking a cold plunge.
After that, I grab a light dinner—enough to refuel, but never too heavy.
Winding Down: Movies and Midnight Plans
The day isn’t over yet. After dinner, I relax with a good movie. Action, thriller, or something inspiring—it depends on the mood.
Before bed, I take a few minutes to review my day. What worked? What didn’t? What can I improve tomorrow?
Then, I plan. Because tomorrow is a new day, a new challenge, and another opportunity to make things happen.
And just like that, the cycle begins again.
